saturday morning thinnies. known to the rest of the world as crepes, but to me & my family they are simply thinnies… the best saturday morning breakfast ever. growing up, my mom made them every saturday morning & i’m trying to continue the tradition. care to partake? here’s our recipe:

thinnies
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1 cup flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oil

beat together until smooth. fry on high heat. (don’t worry, it takes some practice flipping ’em, but you’ll be a pro quick enough!)

we like to keep the toppings simple: butter & syrup or butter & granulated sugar… but the sky’s really the limit. jam, lemon, nutella, chocolate sauce. you could top thinnies with just about anything & they’d be tasty!

We carry that tradition on here in our house. Unfortunately, Josh has programmed the children to call them "Danish pancakes." I still call them thinnies.

I once held the record for eating 8 thinnies in one sitting. I bragged about it to all my kids, but Pete and Jacque ate 9 each one night. There is nothing better. They go back at least 4 generations, so I don't think of it as eating a cup of sugar and butter. I think of it as a family tribute.

yeah, i LOVE crepes. especially as dessert/breakfast, although i've had them for dinner filled with chicken, broccoli and some kind of cheesy creamy sauce... i think you make them without the sugar (maybe?) for dinner crepes. anyways, i'll have to try out this particular recipe. my mouth is already watering.

I had "thinnies" for dinner last night! Have you ever been to La Creperie in Belmont Shore (I know you're a SoCal girl... can't be too far from you)? Yum! One of my favorite places to go when I'm in town.

Yum, we love crepes (pronounced the French way around here, NOT the American way!) Elliott went on his mission to France, and is a master crepe maker... we get the yummy delicious recipe, using vanilla sugar! My favorite topping is melted semi-sweet chocolate chips with sliced bananas!

Yummy! I love crepes. When I got married I got a crepe maker. We use it all the time. My favorite topping is butter with cinnamon sugar. Some others we like are lemon juice with powdered sugar, peanut butter with chocolate syrup, whipped cream cheese with jam or just plain peanut butter. Now I want some of those for dinner. We have them for dinner sometimes.
