that’s because i’ve finally finished my quilt. i started it forever ago. i can’t believe it’s finally finished! to be honest, it was a snap to sew the quilt top. i used the turning twenty pattern & just added an extra row or two (i wanted it to fit our king size bed. so instead of a quilt that measures 70″ x 86″ mine is 84″ x 117″). next came the easy part, dropping it off for my cousin to do the machine quilting with all the lovely loop-d-loops (which i’m sure have a proper name, although being the novice quilter that i am… i’ll just stick with loop d loops). when i got my quilt back, all that was left, was for me to the binding, & yet i just never got around to it. i needed to cut my fabric on the bias to get the diagonal lines for my binding, & i didn’t know how to do that. (so that was my excuse.) but really & truly, i just wasn’t looking forward to hand stitching the back side of the binding (you know, after i attached the front side with the machine). so for months my beautiful quilt sat. but not anymore! i can finally proudly announce to the world that it’s finished! and although my bedroom has never been the hot spot of the house tour, i may soon be inviting complete strangers up to check out my new little beauty. if he doesn’t already, i’m sure the ups guy will soon love amy butler as much as i do! anyway, i know i’m being silly, going on & on. heck! it’s just a quilt… but i feel like a proud mama, wanting to show everyone her brand new little bundle of joy. so, everyone, meet my quilt. it’s so bright & cheery – just like a little bit of sunshine in my room. (click on the pictures to enlarge their loveliness.)
it’ll be jeffy, me & amy in the bedroom tonight.
This is beautiful!! I am in the planning stages of a king sized quilt (I have completed one baby quilt and am almost done with a second)-- jumping in with both feet.Mind if I ask how many fat quarters you ended up using?
That is the funniest title ever. I was laughing so hard when I found out why. love the quilt, girl what talent. I wish i lived by you so you could help em.
wow, looks good. now i totally need to finish my quilt. i had the same issue. tell me, was the hand stiching as tedious as it sounds?
Cute and good for you! Just wanted to say hi...a lot of my friends have told me they've ordered from you...YaY!! Hope all is well with you and your cute fam!
Yipeeee! I love it. You got that binding done so quick! Way to go...now, do you want to do my binding?XOXOXOXO
The quilt on our bed is falling apart so I have been thinking of making one since I hate comforters. You have given me inspiration to do it. Your quilt turned out BEAUTIFULLY. I love it. It is so colorful. I love the patter too. Thanks for sharing it with us.
It is beautiful!!! Now you will always want ot make your bed! Doesn't it feel so good to have it completed. I have some half projects lying aroung and it just drives me crazy!I love your quilt. I have only made one and I made it while I took a quilting class. It is not very big...but I had always wanted to try one-and now I have. I do have several patterns of quilts that I hope to try someday!Way to go girl!
Beautiful job. I can't sew a button on so I am WAY impressed. I just stick to the card making and scrapbooking.
What a wonderful job you did!! I absolutely LOVE the patchwork and combination of colors and fabrics!! You have every right to brag about this piece of work!!
Kelly- it turned out great... I love the blue you chose for the backing too. It really makes the rest of the colors pop. I'll have to come see it in person! :-)I need to get into my sewing room... maybe during Sophie's nap today!
Oh, it looks absolutely gorgeous. Makes me think I need to get working on the three quilts I have all the stuff for to make, but haven't even begun sewing yet.
Absolutely gorgeous! I am very envious of your sewing abilities... the beautiful aprons, the amazing quilt... you are one talented chica, Kelly!
Love it! And I believe the term is stippling, but I could be sooooooooo wrong. Also, I am THE worst at finishing quilts. I have tons of tops that need to be batted, quilted and bound. Someday... *B
It is soooo beautiful and fantastic. I wish I had one on my own bed. Keep up finishing those projects because it is obviously worth it.
it is gorgeous...you did a beautiful job...i love the bright pillows with it..i love the new picture with it...how on earth did you take that picture? from the ceiling?
It turned out great. I love the bright pillows. I can't believe it is a KING size! My biggest is a lap quilt and that is big enough, but maybe some day. Great job!
It looks great! And don't feel bad...the dress I was making for my daughter for Christmas isn't finished yet....
What a gorgeous quilt! I too love Amy Butler fabric and knew that was all over your quilt! I also want to make a quilt for our king because I hate how premade ones don't really 'fit' a king like I like! Way to go for finishing and it's awesome:)
Good job Kelly! Those colors are great and there's nothing like crossing another project off the list.
Let me just pick my jaw off the floor. It's G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!! I have to say I'm a bit biased- I LOVE Amy Butler anything. I'm a big fan. And I'm a huge Kelly fan- so between the two- wow, you amaze me!!! Way to go.
I doubt this is the threesome all husbands hope for, but it is absolutely beautiful. Well done, you.
Kelly,That is amazing! You are so talented. All those fabrics you used. . .how did you know they would all go together? Congratulations on the new arrival, it's a keeper!
