in honor of jeffy, i’m making one of his favorite breakfasts on sunday. just thinking about it is making me hungry!

baked french toast

ingredients:
1 french baguette, cut into 1 inch thick slices
6 large eggs
1 & 1/2 cups milk
1 cup half & half
1 tsp. vanilla extra
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

topping ingredients:
1/4 cup butter (or margarine) softened
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 tablespoon light corn syrup

directions:

the night before you plan on serving, butter a 9 inch square baking pan. arrange bread slices, overlapping to fill the pan completely. combine eggs, milk, half & half, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. mix well, then pour over bread slices & refrigerate overnight.

day of: preheat oven to 350 degrees. combine butter, brown sugar, walnuts & corn syrup. mix well, then spread evenly over soaked bread in pan. bake for 40 minutes or until puffed & golden. serve with syrup.

yum!

That's so funny you have a "Jeffy". So do we! My daughter (now 7.5) has called my husband "Jeffy" since we first got together. She was almost 3. Now, everyone calls him that. Too cute.

I so want to do that too, but with 9 am church and 3 little kiddos to get ready, would we have time to eat it? Hmmm....gotta think on this one. I'll definately be trying it soon. I'm going to add it to my recipe blog so I can remember it. I'll post credit for the recipe back to you though. Thanks!
