some how, some way lightning has struck twice, & once again, i was invited to a runDisney meet-up. this time around, i was lucky enough to attend the princess half marathon meet-up.
you see, in the runDisney world, securing an invite to a runDisney meet-up is like finding your very own golden ticket, & definitely the beginning of a fairytale weekend…
runDisney princess half marathon meet-up
once upon a time, in a land far far way… me (or rather snow white) & 99 of my nearest & dearest friends gathered under the shadows of spaceship earth at epcot.
& i’m not lying – meghann, theodora, kim, karla, sharon, callie, fitz, brittany, katye, heather, kelly, christie, amy, colleen, lorraine, renee, & malinda really are some my nearest & dearest friends thanks to the runDisney princess half meetup.
we were giddy with excitement, & ready to take an early morning run through an otherwise completely empty park.
i still can’t believe that my very first “walt disney world” experience ever, was an early morning jog through epcot with none other than former olympian & current runDisney training consultant jeff galloway, fitness magazine editor betty wong, two time disneyland half marathon winner rachel booth, & 3 time olympian suzy favor hamilton (who is just a fireball of energy… don’t you think she needs a team sparkle skirt to match that tiara?).
the morning was perfect for a quick & easy jog – and you couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful backdrop… even though we covered just a few miles, we managed to see all the wonders of the world, & run thru mexico, norway, china, germany, italy, united states, japan, morocco, france, united kingdom& canada.
(& i have to admit, i kinda love the way my “outift” pops against the sea of black. & did you notice? i’m practically as fast as two-time disneyland half marathon champ rachel booth.)
but the best surprise of all? finally getting the opportunity to meet my very own doppelganger – it truly is amazing how much we have in common, i really do love her style! (although i did forgot to ask if she matches her kt tape to her outfits too.)
although, i have to admit – after spending some time with rapunzel, i was feeling a wee bit jealous of her golden locks.
unfortunately, like most good things – the runDisney princess half marathon meetup had to come to an end. but not before jeff galloway had the opportunity to leave us a powerful reminder to “enjoy every mile…. there’s not a lot of fun getting from point a to point b as fast as you can.”
disclosure: while i have been planning on attending the runDisney princess half marathon weekend & running the runDisney princess half marathon (at my own expense) for months now (i really wanted my coast to coast medal)…. i was recently invited by runDisney to attend the entire event weekend as media – meaning they were kind enough to cover my hotel expenses at the fabulous animal kingdom lodge (where live giraffes, zebras & more roamed outside the balcony of my room), meals, and all of my race fees.
of course – all thoughts & opinions are 100% my own, because as you already know… i absolutely, totally & completely LOVE runDisney events.
