it’s a milkshake.
it’s the best of both worlds – a frozen root beer float shake, & our go-to summertime treat of the moment.
in fact we’re celebrating back-to-school with a neighborhood social – & guess what’s on the menu? that’s right, frozen root beer float shakes.
frozen root beer float shake
* one can of root beer – our favorite is hansen’s natural creamy root beer (although, to be perfectly honest, all of the hansen’s natural sodas would make a great frozen float shake… my personal picks are orange mango or cherry vanilla creme)
* vanilla ice cream
1. pre-freeze the root beer (or whatever soda you choose). be careful though, if you put a bottle of soda in the freezer and leave it, the liquid will expand and explode. yikes! i usually pour the soda into a cup (make sure you don’t fill it to the tip top) & leave it in the freezer for a few hours. the soda doesn’t have to freeze solid – in fact, it’s easier if it’s slushy.
2. combine soda slush & vanilla ice cream in a blender & blend…..
once you achieve a smooth & creamy texture, pour into a few “chilled” mugs & serve with a straw.
is it’s a root bear float? is it a milkshake? no! it’s the best of both worlds – it’s a frozen root beer float shake. & i can guarantee it will be a summer-time favorite…
