holding-onto-the-treadmill-for-dear-life

confession: running on a treadmill (or the dreadmill as i so lovingly refer to it), scares me to death!

i always have to “assume the position” with both hands holding on for dear life, because i’m KNOW if i don’t, i WILL trip & fall.

yes, i am THAT clumsy.

i can’t be the only one who fears falling off the treadmill, am i?

somebody please – tell me i’m not alone!

I have definitely fallen off - while I (for the most part) have pushed that memory into the back of my mind, there are a few times that it rears its ugly head. Picture it: machine moving (maybe a 6pmh pace or so, just fast enough), I misstep, hit the edge, land on the treadmill and it slams me backwards... into a wall. My chin was scraped and the side of my leg torn up.

Yeah. That sucked.

You are not alone, I have this fear all the time hence why I don't run the treadmill however, I am thinking I will need to invest into one so I can put more miles in.

I fall running down the street on a normal day.  The treadmill is dangerous territory for me.  I always trip!

You are not alone! It took me years to get comfortable with the treadmill. My husband said I am finally starting to look like I am confidant and not like I am going to fall. I still feel like there are days I am like "Today will be the day I wipe out at the gym".

You are NOT the only one. The dreadmill scares me too! I feel clumsy and unbalanced and feel like I need to hold for dear life-even when walking. And heaven forbid I try wearing earbuds while on one! P.S. I think you need a new bracelet-lol!!

I have that fear also due to my clumsiness. I'm trying to get back in the mode of running.

It is funny! I actually like the treadmill because then I know what to do with my arms. Love that you are posting a variety of things these days.

As someone who has fallen off the treadmill (and has the scars to prove it...) trust me, you are not alone.

I once was thrown from a treadmill in the middle of a clinic...despite knowing how to get on and off of one, when the instructor told me to stop - I hit the stop button and promptly turned around... and had to run a half marathon the next day, in the pouring rain, covered in treadrash. not fun...
