i’ve been loving THESE bracelets forever. i’m not a big dresser-upper (although i secretly wish i was). but i find running after kids & cleaning up spilled milk is simply more comfortable in jeans & a t-shirt. but i do insist on good accessories… they can definitely add a little pizazz to any outfit. with so many quotes & phrases available i want one for every day & every mood. the ones i’d request from my fairy god mother? never, never, never give up, truly fabulous people never get dressed before lunchtime, are you a good witch or a bad witch, supercalifragilisticexpalidocious, & frankly, my dear, i don’t give a damn. although chanel has done a pricier knock-off, i’m waiting for a cheaper version. until then, i might just have to resort to making my own DIY knock-off.

for shoes. more specifically red shoes. even more specifically, mary-jane flats. so when i saw these i immediately fell in love. you can never have too many pairs of red shoes. but these ballet-inspired flats are also calling my name… so dainty & cute. already, i’m planning outfits revolving around both pairs. if only the shoe fairy would send them my way. (in case she’s listening, i wear a size 8 1/2.)

i’ve been loving
THIS sweater ever since i first saw it. but it’s price tag doesn’t exactly “fit” my budget. luckily i came across
THIS sweater on a recent trip to
target, with over a hundred dollars in savings, i knew i had to have it right away. so maybe it’s made from 100% cotton instead of “luxurious italian cashmere”, otherwise, it’s practically the same sweater. who needs
j. crew?
target suits me just fine.

i’m loving all the pretty, new accessories i spied over at banana. the thought of stacking all those bangles on my arm just makes me smile.

that’s right, it’s road trip time. we packed up the kids & all the gear, and left warm
& sunny california, for the snow. (i don’t know how i ever managed to live here, i freeze so easily!) as we drove & i watched the temperature continue to drop, i found myself wishing i had bought these cute mittens when i first saw them. “what appears to be an ordinary mitten is actually a mitten-within-a-mitten (for keeping mini fingers warm while holding hands). ” how perfect is that?
anyway… we will be busy playing in the snow, playing games, eating, visiting with family, shopping & snowboarding, so posting might be a bit “spotty.” in the meantime i hope you’re keeping yourself busy… setting & keeping those new years resolutions. we’re nearing the end of the first week of 2008, how’s it coming along so far? don’t worry if you’ve already had some setbacks, you know i have. (i ran 3 days this week, but i can already tell that this cold weather is going to do me in. & although i started out with a bang, cooking not only on sunday, but tuesday as well! but i left poor jeffy to fend for himself on wednesday while i frolicked around disneyland.) when you have a little snag, or hit the wall, you just have to remember:
the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. (lao tzu)
so gone on… take that first one, then keep on stepping!

our family has a christmas eve tradition. it’s nothing unique, i’m sure many people of the same tradition, or at le
ast some variation of it. anyway, every year on christmas eve, santa pays our house an extra special, early visit. i don’t know how he finds the time in his busy schedule, but he always manages to drop by to deliver a few gifts. it’s never a surprise, because we always get pajamas. but it’s always fun to see what santa has picked out for us that year. my boys were especially thrilled to find THESE cute slippers in their packages from santa. (gavin got the sharks & little o got the lizards.) they made the oprah o list so you know they’ve gotta be good!

but it actually gets cold in california during the winter. yep! believe it or not, i’m wearing a sweatshirt & our heater is on as we speak. thus, i felt it was high time to share some of my favorite winter accessories with you. first on the list…
fingerless gloves, i’m a total fan. i love the elbow length pairs, they are perfect for 3/4 length t-shirts, short-sleeved jackets, or just about anything. and the bright stripes are perfect for me… they add a bit “pizazz” to my generally boring t-shirt & jean combo. these ones are cute too! but, if you prefer fingers on your gloves, try these. next we have the all-important hat. you can never have too many. that’s why i want this one, and this one, this one, and this one too! and finally, the staple that no girl (or woman) should be without… a pashmina. they are so versatile, seriously! they fold up to basically nothing, so you can store it easily in a purse. it can be a wrap (or blanket), but i prefer to wear it as a scarf. all these fun accessories definitely help make going out in the cold a little more bearable.

but i just can’t stop loving purses & bags. i stumbled across THIS one & it might be a new favorite. i’m always looking for a good “carry-on” bag, & this one looks like it fits the bill. definitely a perfect “travel” bag. & at $78, much more likely to become reality for me, as opposed to the one HERE that i’ve been lusting over.

this beautiful bag from anthropologie. having it on my arm could brighten any dreary winter day. i think it’s just beautiful. i could probably stare at it all day… i just love the colors. maybe i’ll save my pennies from the sales at my shop (sorry for the shameless plug) & buy it for myself as a present. (i feel a shopping trip coming on!) or, i could just make THIS bag instead… there’s no sewing involved & it’s reversible. wow! what a combination.
