wish i was there…

it’s mid-january, the holiday festivities are over & summer seems really far off. & yet, on a daily basis i find myself dreaming of white sandy beaches & sparkling blue waters. or perhaps, strolling along the river seine, gazing up at the eiffel tower. sometimes i dream i’m walking the streets of florence. other times i imagine i’m eating fondoe in the mountaintop town of gimmelwald, or canyoning in nearby interlaken. & although i could rattle off a dozen places i would love to visit tomorrow, “traveling the globe” is definitely on hold, at least for the time being. so, in an effort to scratch my “travel itch”, i think it’s high time for a swap.

so, shout it from the roof tops, tell your friends, invite your neighbors, send an email, post it on your blog. anything & everything that will get the word out. i want EVERYONE in the world knows about the…
i hope you are as excited as i am! here are all the particulars…
it’s really quite simple: as a participant, you will be asked to send at least three objects (i don’t think anyone would mind if you decide to send more) that are some of YOUR favorite travel related things. think vacation, exotic countries, travel guides, maps… you get the idea. maybe it’s a favorite travel journal, perhaps something that reminds you of a favorite city or place , a package stocked with all your favorite travel goodies & must haves, or a collage of your favorite destinations. be creative & most importantly have fun with it! objects can be new or vintage, bought or handmade… just remember, it is best to send something the you’d be pleased & excited to receive yourself.

ready to join the fun? please e-mail your particulars to accordingtokelly@gmail.com. sign-ups will be open until monday, january 21st… so get your friends involved! here’s what i need:

• your name.
• mailing address.
• email address.
• website / blog / flickr
(must be involved with at least one of these – not because i’m mean & like to exclude people, simply because i want everyone to have the opportunity to really get to know their partners. although, i might be persuaded to let a few people in who don’t have a website / blog / flickr account.)
• a little something about yourself.
(just a little bit about you to send to your partner… who you are & what you like. it would be fun to find out about some your favorite places to visit as well as those you can’t wait to travel to.)
• please indicate if you are willing to ship internationally.

swap partners will be emailed to you shortly after the sign-up deadline. the delivery date for this swap is Friday, February 8th… please have it postmarked by then.

once you receive your package, be sure to post photos here, for everyone to enjoy! if you don’t have a flickr account, email me your photos & i will post them for you. if you have any questions/ comments, just drop me a line at: accordingtokelly@gmail.com

here are the goodies isent off to sweet sarah. i’m most excited about the little craft utility apron i made. i have to admit i had a hard time giving it away. i saw one somewhere (i don’t remember where, otherwise i’d definitely give credit), & knew i could make one. i’m not the brightest when it comes to sewing, so it took me a couple tries & lots of ripped seams, but i eventually figured it out. hopefully sarah enjoyed the package!

back2school

with all this back to school chatter, i have to admit, i’m a little jealous. on one hand i am THRILLED that i am done with school, that my hubby is done, and that are little ones haven’t even started. but on the other hand… there are so many fun things involved with the start of a new school year. new school clothes, new friends, new experiences, new boys and the best of all… new school supplies! so of course i was thrilled when the famed miss marta announced her back2school swap. i was even more excited when i got my swap partner… sarah – she is absolutely amazing! she is a mom of three, a confessed craft junkie & crime fighting hero. check out her blog HERE. today i got sarah’s package, and let me tell you, it is awesome!first off, check out the incredible packaging… so detailed! and i love the alphabet stamps, it definitely set the mood. inside i found so many wonderful goodies: velvetly soft alphabet stickers, puffy ink pens, beautiful oragami paper. On top of all that, sarah sent me the cutest stationary ever! It’s stationary and envelopes all in one! All I have to do is write, fold, lick and stamp. how did she know nancy drew is one of my idols?

i just wanted to say a quick thank you. thanks to every one, for all of the birthday wishes, that really made my day! thank you for giving me a place to vent my frustrations, and for all of the totally unexpected, yet very helpful, words of advice. thanks to everyone who participated in the swap & for making it such a success. thank you to everyone who visits me & my little time from time to time…. and a big thank you to all those who comment. i definitely love hearing from you & it’s so much fun to link back. thank you for letting me share bits and pieces of my life with you.

let me tell you how much i LOVE my swap partner missy! i seriously lucked out! it’s amazing how much you can have in common with someone you’ve never even met! (i’ve been finding that out a lot lately, thanks to the blog-o-sphere!) I absolutely love burt’s bees products, but I’ve never tried their lip stuff, I already know I’m hooked! i can’t wait to wear my new visor running… this is something i definitely needed. strawberry licorice bites from trader joes! this is one of my favorite stores, but again something i’ve never tried. and I’ve saved the best for last… Rachel Ray. i have to admit i’ve watched the show, even flipped through the magazine, but i’ve never even looked at her cookbook! can’t wait to find some new favorite recipes!

let the swapping begin!

it’s official, swap sign ups are now closed. thanks for the incredible response. we have over 100 participants! i’m new to the swapping business, so i don’t know what’s “normal.” for me, that’s huge. i definitely didn’t expect this kind of response… i’m so grateful for everyone posting about it & telling their friends. now, i have to do the hard part, and match everyone up with partners. actually, it really shouldn’t be that hard, except that i want to swap with EVERYONE! anyway, i’ll probably do something fair, like draw names out of a hat or something. just be looking for an email from me with your partners info. in the mean time, start thinking about what you want to send. if you’re looking for a little inspiration, check out these pictures from flickr of past swaps…
